Dr. Mayer-Patel received his Ph.D. from the University of 
California, Berkeley in 1999 and subsequently joined the 
faculty at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. 
His primary research interests are in multimedia computing 
and networking.  He is an active member of ACM SIG 
Multimedia and has served on the program and organizing 
committees for a number of different conferences including 
ACM Multimedia, NOSSDAV, MIPS, and MMCN. Dr. Mayer-Patel was 
awarded an NSF CAREER grant in 2002.
