Micah Adler is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He received his Ph.D. from the Division of Computer Science, University of California at Berkeley, and his B.S. in Mathematics with Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Between finishing his Ph.D. in 1996 and starting at UMass, Amherst in 1999, he was the recipient of Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships from both the Heinz Nixdorf Institute in Paderborn, Germany and the Computer Science Department at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on foundational issues concerning communication networks and multiprocessor computational systems. His current interests include network security, bandwidth efficiency and algorithmic aspects of the World Wide Web. His recent professional service includes being Program Committee Chair for SPAA 2004, a Program Committee Member for FOCS 2004, and a Managing Editor of Internet Mathematics.
